Heitor Villa-Lobos is a composer of Brazil. His creation themed folk music of Brazil, but he also uses elements of classic style. He learned music from his father an amateur musician. When his father died, Heitor Villa-Lobos has become a renowned and professional musician and make a living as a cafe musician by playing his cello.
In 1905 Villa-Lobos traveled to the northeast region of Brazil to collect folk music. Furthermore, he studied at the national music institute in Rio de Janeiro, although his musical style never refers to general academic style.
Villa-Lobos is a composer who composes many works. However, much of his work is also an arrangement of previous works. Especially at the end of his life, Villa-Lobos did a lot of re-composition.
